Shaqramento

What do you do when your team is a part of what is considered one of the worst franchises in sports history? If you're the Sacramento Kings you add the glitz and glamour of a big name and hope/pray/meditate that it helps get even just a win or two. On Monday, September 23,2013 the Sacramento Kings organization announced that Shaquille O'Neal was buying a small portion of their franchise. That's right, O'Neal was joining forces with his formal rival. Within moments of the announcement #Shaqramento was a trending topic on many social media sites. Some people were mad and some people were happy. I am sure that anyone in the Kings organization would agree with the famous quote by Oscar Wilde, "There is only one thing in life worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about". The Kings are in a position where the only place they can go is up. O'Neal states it perfectly, "Worst is at the bottom, which means you can't get no worser. And there's no such thing as worser, which means we can only get better. And we will get better. Once that new arena comes, once that new downtown is up, once we have a conversation with the players and get everybody to step up, they'll be knocking on the door." Some might be rolling their eyes at this latest development. Personally, I think it is a great opportunity for everyone in the Kings organization to learn something. After all, Shaq does have a doctorate degree in Education, so instead of Coach O'Neal, you might be saying Dr.O'Neal.

Rockets Vs. Clippers 4/9/11

I got to meet Chase Budinger which was very cool. I've met him once before but it was very informal and in passing at a night club. My friend Jonathan who is Red Rowdy for the Rockets. He actually won the Toyota Super Fan contest. By winning that, he received a free new car, a huge banner with a picture of himself on it on display at the Toyota Center, a suite for his family and friends on 4/9, and also a meet and greet with Chase in the suite. (I was lucky that he let me come to his suite). Chase was very friendly, answered tons of questions, signed a bunch of autographs, and took many pictures.

Shoot for the Moon

On Monday, April, 4, 2011 I had the pleasure of meeting Warren Moon. For some reason or other he showed up in my dad's suite at the Final Four championship. It was awesome. He is a Houston legend to say the least. He played for the former Houston Oilers from 1984-1993 as a quarterback. In the 1993 season he helped the Oilers to a great record of 12-4. That same season(which happened to be his best season with the Oilers) the Oilers also went on to win the AFC Central division crown. He set a franchise record for the Oilers with a whopping 70 wins. Moon went on to have a stellar career with several other teams. He was inducted into the hall of fame in 2006. It was really great to meet him. He was extremely nice and had no problem with answering questions and posing for pictures. It was definitely a day to remember for me.

Who's to blame?

So by now everyone has heard about the Brett Favre scandal. It involves him allegedly sending pictures of him, below the waist to a reporter that worked for the Jets at the same time he played for them. The reporter's name is Jenn Sterger. In my opinion she is playing the victim card. She took Brett Favre's knowing that he was a married father. Someone just doesn't send a sexual picture of themselves to someone else. Two have to play the game. It personally bugs me so much that she is making such a big deal about it and people are looking at Brett Favre to blame. If all is true, the only thing wrong he did was send the picture and do not get me wrong, I believe that he shouldn't have done that. However, Sterger needs to own up to her part in the scandal. She knew what was going to happen, she's not that innocent.

Miracle Astros

People refer them to the as "Lastros", "Disastros", "Asstros"..etc. Honestly I could agree with all of the previously stated names at the BEGINNING of the season. That however has changed. The Astros are on a streak. Sure it may be every now and then but it is extremely apparent to anyone who follows them that major changes have been made to their roster. One word can sum it up: youth. The Astros organization has taken the "out with the old and in the new" route. Clearly it is working. The pitching has been superb, the bats have been loud. Hopes of plays offs are a big no no, but a winning season isn't that far off. Some notable players are: Hunter Pence(out field), (Wandy Rodriguez), and several others. Whenever Hunter Pence steps up to bat, you can tell by his swing that no matter what the situation, he is swinging for the fences. Excuse me for saying this but previously he wasn't getting to the fences or even close. However that is not the case lately. Pence has been responsible for a few wins for the Astros. How about his 3 run homer the other night???? On to Wandy...Usually he has a curse on the road with his pitching. Not the case, he has been shutting teams out and limiting to the most minimal of hits. I am extremely proud of the team as a whole. Here's to a winning season! Good luck boys!!

Yao Ming Cleared!

The Houston Rocket's 7 foot 6 inch, 310 pound center has been cleared for basketball activities. This is great news for the Rockets and their fans. Yao has always been prone to injury. His most recent injury came in the 2009 play offs, where he injured his ankle. The injury put him out for the rest of the play offs and the whole 09/10 season. He is going to take things slow but also fill his days with work outs, rehabs and individual sessions to build his personal skills. Many people are counting on Yao to pick up right where he left off and are hoping that he will be a key player in leading the Rockets back into the play offs. All eyes will be on Yao for the next couple of months until the season starts. Here's to hoping he does everything we wish for and even more.
